AMARAVATI: Step into a new world, the lap of Nature.
It is on paper now, but may soon take a real shape as Singapore’s Surbana Jurong has presented a concept plan to the Amaravati Development Corporation Limited, an arm of the Andhra Pradesh government, for developing a ‘Culture District’ in the core capital to ensure a happy living experience for the citizens.
The world’s renowned urban infrastructure consulting firm had designed the Amavarati Capital City Master Plan in 2016.
SJ has now prepared the concept plan for creating the Culture District in an area of 250 acres as a riverfront development.
A portion of the now-aborted Amaravati Start-Up Area could be turned into the Culture District.
The Culture District will be a ‘Nature Cove’.
THE SITE MAP
The ‘rolling lawns’ will sway you towards the ‘lawn terraces’, right into the ‘high street’.
Traverse through a ‘cultural promenade’ and revel in the seasonal garden and the connecting greens.
Get regaled in the cultural centre and then stroll to the crafts village.
A ‘ribbon walk’ on a meandering bridge over river Krishna that connects the riverbank at two ends will be a breathtaking experience. Indulge in ‘selfies’, in the midst of Nature, at designated corners along the ribbon.
A ‘boardwalk’ leading to ‘viewing decks’ will leave one awestruck.
The ‘river market’ then beckons you for another spell of indulgence.
For kids, it will be more exhilarating with an exclusive play area adding to the other thrills.
There will be entertainment galore at the ‘community plaza’ and outdoor amphitheatre.
A pavilion for multiple activities in the river island will be a unique feature.
“This will be one of the largest recreational areas in Amaravati and is designed to enhance the happy living experience of the citizens. The Culture District will be an eclectic mix of fun, frolic and adventure and a major tourist hotspot,” government authorities say.
The Culture District will be developed in the Public-Private Partnership mode.
