Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1994 batch, Praveen Prakash, has launched a noble initiative in his hometown Varanasi today to help needy students.
He has launched the Smt. Sushila Devi Memorial Trust in commemoration of his late grandmother, which will support about 200 students in Varanasi.
Under the initiative, necessary books and study material will be provided to the students, currently studying in classes 9 to 12, that will help them prepare for engineering and medical entrance examinations after Class-XII.
These students belong to families being raised by single mothers.
Praveen, even as a bureaucrat, has focused on education and students’ welfare. After leaving the IAS last year, he started counselling programmes for students to prepare for different competitive examinations and also make the right career choices.
Praveen, with his vast knowledge of subjects, is proving a good mentor for many a student seeking to excel in various competitive examinations.
He regularly interacts with students in various parts of the country personally and also through his YouTube channel and shares valuable insights on different subjects.
The Smt. Sushila Devi Memorial Trust is part of his continued efforts to help students by different means.
Ninth class student Rajan was the first recipient of the set of books provided by the Trust in Varanasi.
Praveen visited the house of Smt. Urmila, mother of Rajan, and handed over the books, leaving the family, also comprising Rajan’s younger sister, joyous.
